Biography

Janet O’Brien is a Clinical Professor in the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation where she’s taught in both the undergraduate and graduate Health Innovation programs. She coordinates the standardized patient clinical exams and the Master of Science in Healthcare Simulation program, is the Edson College Ombudsperson, is a thesis director for Barrett Honors students, and a dissertation committee member for PhD students. Prof. O’Brien’s research interests include competency assessment using simulation and reliability and validity testing in the design of simulation scenarios and measurement instruments. She is a member of the President’s Award for Innovation Committee. She is also the Research & Statistics editorial board member for The Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing, a member of the Spunt Grant Review Committee for the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation & Learning (INACSL), and the Scholarship Committee Chair for the Arizona League for Nursing.
