Convocation
The big day is almost here! The Edson College Convocation for Spring 2025 will take place on Saturday, May 17 at 9 a.m. in Desert Financial Arena on the Tempe campus.
Graduates planning to participate in the event should have received a confirmation and reminder email from our office in early May. Only graduates who are participating in person will have their names read aloud during the ceremony.
For the full schedule of spring ceremonies, please visit the ASU ceremonies page.
To watch the event live, visit https://video.ibm.com/asutv. The broadcast will start a few minutes before our ceremony begins and run the entire event.
University commencement and convocation ceremonies are special events for all involved. Please show respect for everyone who has come to share in the experience. Individuals who engage in inappropriate or disruptive behavior will be removed from the event.
Ceremony Quick Info
Graduate Check In
All graduates are required to first check in at Mountain America Stadium, Southeast gate prior entering the arena.
Check in begins at 8 a.m. and takes just a few minutes. Please plan to arrive by 8:45 a.m. in order to be seated on time.
Regalia
Formal academic regalia (cap/gown) is required for graduation events. Regalia and other graduation related items can only be purchased at the Sun Devil Campus Stores at this time. Supply may be limited, so if you haven’t already done so, purchase your regalia as soon as possible. For information on how to dress for graduation, including a cap tutorial, visit ASU Graduation website.
Decorating your cap: You are welcome to decorate your cap, but please be sure it is family appropriate or it will not be allowed.
Honor Cords: Students eligible for academic recognition are given honor cords to be worn at graduation ceremonies. Pick up honor cords at any University Registrar Services location ahead of time. Honor cords will NOT be available at our check-in.

Accessible parking options are shown in the "Accessible Parking" section of the page after clicking on the Desert Financial Arena link.
Bags and Security
Visit https://clearbags.asu.edu/ for full information on bags and allowable items.
Graduates should limit personal belongings and not bring water bottles, backpacks or other large items. There will be no place to set anything down and there is no secure location to store your belongings during the ceremony.
Guest information
Doors to the event open at 8 a.m. Guests of all ages are welcome to attend and support their graduates at our event. Graduates are asked to submit their approximate guest count when filling out the ceremony RSVP form, but tickets are not required.
Seating is on a first-come basis, and larger parties are encouraged to enter at the same time to sit together. We are expecting a large audience for this event and your cooperation is appreciated to seat everyone close together for an optimal experience for all.
Minor children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times and must sit in the arena seating (not the floor seating area). Graduates participating in the ceremony cannot also serve as the active guardians of minor children. Unattended minor children will enter a lost child protocol.
Wheelchair and handicap-accessible seating is available on the concourse level of the arena. Guests needing these seats may have one additional guest accompanying them, and we ask that the remainder of the party is seated in arena seats nearby.
Wheelchairs are available to borrow for the event on a first-come basis at the North entry point. To use a wheelchair, guests will be asked to exchange a photo ID for collateral.
Flowers and commemorative items: Arizona State University partners with The Commencement Group to provide special commemorative flowers and gift items for sale at graduation events. These gift items can be purchased online in advance: https://www.thecommencementgroup.com/arizonastate/.
Items can be preordered up until 5 p.m. on Friday, May 16 for pick up before the Edson College Convocation event inside the venue.
Captioning and Language Assistance
Live captioning will be displayed in English during the event and is available in more languages using a personal mobile device. Visit https://graduation.asu.edu/guests/accessibility and scroll to the “Captioning” section for instructions for how to access captioning at the live event.
Guests who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or would like to use an Assistive Listening Device (ALD) may sit in our designated area in the lower portion of Section X in the arena. Here, we will have American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters placed for translation services. To use an ALD, guests will be asked to exchange a photo ID for collateral.
